Why did I write this story? To share my trip? Well,NO!
Month-August
Season-Monsoon
It was the month of August and it was the time of heavy rains.Trekking seemed like a distant dream.Yet I managed to gather some friends for a trek,most/all trekking for the first time.So I had to be very discreet with the place I chose for the trek.Hatu Peak was a place that deemed fit. What surprised me was the insufficient information I could find regarding the trek.YES, the reason I chose to write on Hatu Peak is to let the world know what the Hatu Peak has to offer.
We had reached Narkanda by 2 in the afternoon.Hoping on finding tents in Narkhanda we didn't bother to rent out one in Shimla! To add on it, it was drizzling! We anyhow started our trek without tents hoping to find shelter in the temple above. It was a 6km climb on a motor able road with some shortcuts during the way.To be honest, the uphill climb didn't offer any thrill or adventure to me, though it worked perfectly well for the others. Some started to question whether they would trek again or not! Luckily, it never did rain during the climb but it was a different experience altogether. The sun never shone during the whole climb and the water droplets of the fog that hit my face seemed very relaxing! Like I said, the sun never shone and it was very foggy. But there was a moment of magic when we reached the top.The fog started to clear out! It was like sunset was waiting for our arrival.I had never expected anything from the Hatu Peak trek but what it gave me was unbelievable!
We spent the night in the sarai cooking our food in a chulha! The Hatu Peak offered me with all the adventure I needed although I hadn't expected. There aren't many stories about the Hatu Peak, maybe because it's not even a trek since the road is motor able.Well we were lucky that the road had been blocked and we had the road to ourselves. If you are looking for adventure,Hatu Peak will serve as a good choice even though the climb is not good!
