This is another one of the places I am going to virtually exist in, like you, whoever is reading! Just the fact that it is prohibited to stay inside these eerie ruins of a king's palace is worth experiencing. Whoever has ever been curious about the supernatural world probably knows about this famous site. There are two stories about the place that contribute to it's gateway to the supernatural world.
One version is of a sadhu named Baba Balanath who apparently was very insecure regarding the height of his house. He warned the city of destructing the entire fort town if any of the houses built in the area were to be taller than his own.
The second story is of a wizard(Singhiya) hopelessly in love with the beautiful princess of Bhangarh (Ratnavati). The wizard decided to make her fall in love with him with a love potion. The clever princess smelled what was fishy and threw the potion on a boulder in the market which eventually crushed the wizard. But before getting crushed, the wizard cursed the town after which the fort was invaded by the Mughals who killed all the people in the town including the princess.
People believe the ghosts are of the wizard and the princess and now the fort is said to be guarded by the people's spirits who were killed due to paranormal activity that goes on at night.
Intrigued by these stories, Anunay and his friends set forth to explore this city submerged in history. They left for the fort at 11 pm at night. This is the time you're not supposed to enter or enter at your own risk!
The GPS then did not show them the way properly(In 2010) and to add to that, People weren't telling them where to go. Everyone kept saying, 'Why are you going there? Don't go. There's nothing to see.' After a while, they somehow managed to find an eerie looking left cut just before Jaipur city. They entered Jaipur and saw a police car following them. Impulsively, they drove like it was a chase, trying to leave the policemen behind to such an extent that they sat numb in their car waiting for the policemen to lose them.
Finally when they reached at 4 am, which is considered a safe time to visit, they saw a torch light in the ruins of the city with no further appearance. They hurried forward and fortunately it was dawn soon.
The same ruins that were hard to breathe in at night were extremely beautiful in the morning with wildlife surrounding the beautiful city. You can see an abandoned palace surrounded by the tunnels and abandoned city markets where the wizard's curse might have taken place.
Even if you don't believe in the supernatural, I think the place is worth a visit for its history. For me, just the thought of being able to see an abandoned ruined town gives me the chills. If you believe in the concept of the world's end some day, this place might give you some kick! :D
