Everyone is in search of happiness including me. This search took me to Andaman.
After my wedding, we were not sure where to go in the month of Jun coz most of the honeymoon destination are stuck due to rain season. But suddenly one of our friend suggested to go to Andaman… The place where u can find actual joy of life and romance, Then we selected our hotel and package. And we finally booked our tickets.
And our journey started from pune.
Day 1 - 4-jun-2013 at 5:00 AM
We booked our flight from Mumbai to Port Blair and it was almost 4 hrs journey …….. when my flight took off , my heart was full of enthusiasm. When I was seeing the andaman from flight window, it was like seeing the most beautiful paradise through the bird eye. And we landed at Portblair near about 11 AM. Then we went to our hotel symphony palms…
Andaman has been a attraction for various things starting from virgin beaches of Radhanagar, Elephant, kalapathar, beautiful islands like Havelock Island, variety of sea food and Water Sports like Scuba Diving, Sea Walking, Snorkeling, Tribes like Jarawa and above all the infamous Cellular Jail. This land witnessed the barbaric punishment our freedom fighters went through during British period. Andaman has become an important Tourist Destination of the world. The beautiful amalgamation of Sand, Land and Sea can take you to a world beyond imagination.
After the refreshing lunch at our hotel, our guide took us to fish and tribal museum which is the witness of tribal culture and all the different type of fishes found in the blue ocean.
Then our guide took us to Cellular Jail, it was the jail used by the British to inflict the worst form of torture and hardship on those who strove to free the country from the British rule. The whole jail covered by cemented beam where from nobody can escape…But now a days that jail is Depicting the memory of freedom struggle, the stories of those known and unknown freedom fighters… In the evening, we enjoyed the Light & Sound show at Cellular Jail. One must visit the cellular jail during morning hours to see the star shaped jail. From the top of the jail you can see the entire Port Blair surrounded with green and dark blue water. It is a must watch destination for anyone visiting Andaman.
After watching the Light & Sound show, we had dinner and packed for tomorrow.
Day 2 - 5-jun-2013 at 8:00 AM
We are going to board “Makruzz” from the Jetty and destination is Havelock Island. Havelock Island is a popular destination among the water sport lovers and the main tourist destination. It was a 3 hours journey from Port Blair. We reached there near about 11 am and rushed to hotel Symphony Palm. I must say, the beauty of Havelock islands is beyond description. The white sand, blue water, virgin beaches, series of trees. Entire day we just enjoyed the Sea. In the evening, we went to Radhanagar beach but unfortunately rain arrived but still that was also a very pleasant experience. Gradually darkness fell over the island. The beauty of Havelock beach during night is beyond explanation. The deserted beach, the non- stop sound of the sea water pounding on the rocky beach, whisper of the wind, the dazzling moon, and the glittering stars amazed me.
Symphony Palm Resort is a fairly good hotel with spacious cottages, restaurants, bars spread over both the sides of the road. And we wear lucky that we got a cottage on the beach side. Hotel staffs were friendly and mostly Bengalis. Those who are non-vegiterian , andaman food is like mouthwatering for them. But unfortunately I am vegetarian and I had quenched my hunger with some south Indian stuff. Post dinner, we cherished the mysterious beauty of the beach for some more time before going to bed.
Day 3 - 6-jun-2013 at 7:00 AM
In Andaman day arrives very early so we got up in 6 am and we were getting ready for scuba diving.
Today we first went to the place where from we need to take all our necessities for the scuba diving. Scuba Diving has been a dream for me for years and I was excited to see my dream coming true. The guides who accompanied us were all experts with years of experience in diving and briefed us about the DOs and Donts. I didnot diving earlier but I was very enthusiastic as compare to my hubby.. And then with in couple of hours we started our boat ride and reached the place where the diving to take place. The dive duration was not specified but guide took us in the depth where we can see different sorts of corals reef and marine life. I was very happy to see marine life and I must say, it was a value for money and worth spending half day. Then we went to our hotel and took a rest for some time.
In Havelock you can hire motorbikes, bicycles etc to roam on the island and I really wanted to enjoy a ride to the inner part of the island Driving a motorbike through such a deserted forest while listening to the natural jingles of the forest, the background sound of cricket took away my little bit of fear that I had before starting and I reached the hotel.
Havelock has a small market with various apparels etc mainly getting delivered from the mainland. We spent later part of the evening in the market. A little rain made the weather cool and we felt alive after a hectic day. Dinner was as usual with local delicacies . Tomorrow again we will move to elephant beach for water sports and snorkeling.
Day 4 – 7-jun-2013 at 8 AM
Today we got up little bit late due to hectic yesterday. Our guide took us to water sports area where a lot many family couple were enjoying the weather with water bikes. But as per my experience, water sports is bit a high price. But it does not matter . after enjoying the water sports and snorkeling, we did a lot of photography over there and really it was worth spending 600 rs for one ride. We reached the hotel at around 3 pm and we took a rest.
That day was a very special day coz hotel people had arranged beach site dinner for us . I was very surprised by that beautiful arrangement which I can’t express in my words. And we had our dinner under the glittery blue sky….
Day 5 – 8-jun-2015 at 8 AM
Next day we went to Kalapatthar beach.. it is the most scenic place . Due to rain, we could not go for fishing but rain was fully cherishing the beauty of blue water . While coming back, we experienced the High-tide. There are some uprooted trees scattered on the beach which became our evening destination. In such a night with dazzling moon above us and water flowing below those fallen trees and washing our feet, we enjoyed our evening snacks and drinks.
Day 6 – 9 jun -2015 At 7 AM
Early morning, we went to the Jetty to board the cruise for Port Blair. We reached at around 1 pm and spent the evening roaming around the city.
Post dinner, we started packing our luggage…….tomorrow we have flight to catch for mumbai… Andaman Beauty took me into the peace zone of my life. I was feeling like Its was new beginning of journey ...in my whole travelling experience Andaman tour is very elation full.
